‘Wizkid Stole My Name’ — Seun Kuti Fires Back at ‘Wizkid FC’

Afrobeats singer Seun Kuti has addressed Wizkid fans over the “Big Bird” nickname controversy, insisting the nickname belongs to him and urging Wizkid to come up with his own original name.

The dispute began when a Wizkid fan asked Seun during an Instagram live session to change his long-standing nickname, arguing that Wizkid is the “Biggest Bird.” Seun refused, asserting that he had been using the name first.

“Wizkid ‘stole’ my name. Tell your fave to be original. Why are you telling me to change my name? Sorry, I can’t change it. This name has been here since. I am the first to come up with it,” he said.

Seun also criticized Wizkid’s team, including DJ Tunez, for failing to address comparisons between Wizkid and Seun’s late father, Fela Kuti, arguing that their silence allows fans to drag Fela’s name into music disputes.
